Hey, I'm John.
I was born and raised in a small town outside of Duluth MN. I always had a love of art and creativity from a young age, and experimented with many different mediums.
As I got older, my artistic passion became focused on digital art. I went to college for 3D animation in Miami FL, and found a career in graphic design.
Through my career I have found myself living in many different places: Miami, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Detroit, Ann Arbor, and Chicago where I currently reside. I work from home doing graphic design during the day, and spend my free time in my art studio space at a community studio called "The Digs". There I focus on pottery and ceramics, but I also still am active with painting, drawing, print, and many other mediums.
Chicago has really felt like home to me. I am so inspired by the energy and character the city has, as well as the huge network of artists and galleries. I'm so grateful to have found a community art space to share my passion with other people, and truly feel that Chicago is the birthplace of a new chapter in my creative life.
I am always happy to meet new people and talk about my art. If you are ever in the area, please stop by and visit me!
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me and my work. I hope that you will enjoy exploring my website and seeing my latest creations.
Cheers!
What inspires my pottery.
My background in graphic design has had a profound impact on my pottery. I use my skills in layout, composition, colors, and patterns to create pieces that are both functional and visually appealing.
In graphic design, layout is the arrangement of elements on a page or screen. This can include the placement of text, images, and other design elements. In my pottery, I use layout to create a sense of balance and harmony. For example, I may arrange my designs in a symmetrical or asymmetrical way, or I may use negative space to create visual interest.
Composition is the arrangement of elements within a space. In graphic design, composition is used to create a sense of focus and interest. In my pottery, I use composition to create a sense of movement and energy. For example, I may use diagonal lines to create a sense of motion, or I may use contrasting colors to create a focal point.
Color is a powerful tool that can be used to create a variety of emotions and moods. In graphic design, color is used to create a sense of harmony or contrast. In my pottery, I use color to create a sense of joy and whimsy. For example, I may use bright, cheerful colors to create a happy and inviting atmosphere, or I may use muted, calming colors to create a relaxing and peaceful atmosphere.
Patterns are a repeating design that can be used to create a sense of rhythm and movement. In graphic design, patterns are used to create a sense of unity and order. In my pottery, I use patterns to create a sense of visual interest. For example, I may use a simple geometric pattern to create a clean and modern look, or I may use a more complex pattern to create a more traditional and ornate look.
One of my favorite aspects of pottery is the beauty in simplicity. A piece can have incredible form and function, while also being strikingly simple. This also translate to design, where there's beauty in negative space. Using the fewest elements necessary to convey information or an emotion.
Overall, my pottery is a beautiful and unique expression of my creativity and my background in design. I am grateful for the opportunity to share my art with the world, and I hope that my work will bring joy and happiness to others.

What inspires my design.
My love for design came in quite the round-about way. Growing up my passion and focus was always on drawing and character design. When I got to high school and college I focused my degree on 3D animation, and thought that was the career I wanted. Towards the end of bachelor's program and internship, and ended up falling in love with Design (both graphic and motion).
I'm very grateful to have a career being creative in digital design. And in my free time I love to blend design with illustration for my own personal projects. Whether I'm building freelance websites or designing a logo for my volleyball teams, I always find myself exploring new elements of design.
My design inspiration comes from everything around me. Every aspect of my life I pull inspiration from, but some of my favorites come from traveling, other cultures, and the vibrant city of Chicago.
Throughout my life animation and cartoons has played a pivotal role in my inspiration and creative development. I use that for inspiration frequently as well in my designs. I also enjoy using color to create a sense of joy and whimsy in my work.
I'm excited to have started this new chapter in my artistic journey by sharing my art to a larger audience. I love to use my art to spread joy and happiness, and I hope that what I offer here will bring a smile to your face every time you wear or use it.
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me and my work. I hope that you will enjoy exploring my website and seeing my latest creations.
I love to use these skills to create unique and eye-catching merchandise. I believe that art should be accessible to everyone, and I am committed to creating high-quality merchandise that is both affordable and stylish.
I am always looking for new ways to express myself through my art, and I am excited to see what the future holds. I hope that you will continue to follow my work and support my passion for art.
